For Project One, I created a three-page website for my younger brother’s trash can cleaning business, Clean Bins Services. One of the biggest things I worked on was using Flexbox to control the layout of different parts of the site. It took a lot of adjusting to get the spacing, alignment, and sizing to look the way I wanted, especially when placing text and images next to each other. I also learned more about creating and styling a hero section and using object-fit to make a hero image fit the layout without becoming distorted. I also spent a lot of time working on the visual details of the site. I wanted the design to match the cleaning theme without looking too playful, so I used a consistent green and cream color palette, paired different fonts, and created bubbles along the edges of the pages using CSS radial gradients and pseudo-elements. The bubbles took a lot of trial and error because I had to experiment with their size, positioning, transparency, and behavior at different screen sizes. I am especially happy with how they turned out because they add personality to the site while still keeping the overall design clean. This project helped me become more comfortable troubleshooting CSS and showed me how small styling decisions can make a website feel much more polished.
